Sunset Shimmer Hunts the Undead is a 100k word sequel to Principal Celestia Hunts the Undead, and it's a worthy addition, in my opinion.
Everything that started in the first story continues here. It's not a retread of the same themes, however. EqG Celestia and Luna find ways to grow out of their shells. Sunset balances her life with her mom and aunt back at home, and her new college life with her dorm mates, alongside her continuous adventures slaying paranormal threats.
While the old cast of school teachers get their moments here and there, the focus shifts to Sunset's ragtag team of friends. They have a fun dynamic and they play off each other quite well, both in the downtime in the dorm, and while battling zombies and elder gods.
As for negatives... Well, there's a minor subplot that involves the School of Friendship and some of the students make cameo appearances. There's a bigger focus on sex, for some reason. Nothing explicit, but the kind of jokes TwiGuard2 would make. The big kaiju fight at the end was kind of bloated, but hey. Celestia on a golden bikini riding Princess Celestia while wielding a war hammer.
Other than that, I think this is a good sequel. If you've read the first one, this is more of the same quality.
