I've been struggling to finish this one. I'm up to the shift from mystery to thriller. The mystery was never very mysterious (the whole thing being obviously spoiled in the synopsis doesn't help) and coupled with no one really seeming to care about the animal killings, it didn't have any sense of urgency or threat to it. The characters all have felt really dry to me. There's not good chemistry between them, probably brought on by the "new person in town" setup requiring a lot of awkward introductions and stiff interactions. I was hoping the shift to thriller would liven things up, but I haven't found the time to pick it back up.
Still don't know if I'll finish it, but every day I don't it slips closer to the cut pile.
