NightmareJack is a 9,9k work Comedy SoL one-shot. Applejack wakes up to discover that the Nightmare has taken over her, turning her into a dark alicorn. This is more of an inconvenience than anything.
I loved this one. Going in I feared this would border on the stupid. It's in the general vicinity, yes. However, what really made me like the comedy in this story is how straitlaced it is. Everypony just accepts this is the new reality they have to deal with.
It's vaguely reminiscent of the syle of the old ZAZ films. I could definitely see Leslie Nielsen in a leading role. Maybe Monty Python. Some of the conversations had that feel to them.
Maybe I'm just overselling it, but the flow of the story, as well as the tone and dialogue all just clicked with me. I actually found myself chuckling every now and then.
This is probably the best Comedy I've read in a while, and you should definitely give it a try.
