The Unfortunate Stabbing of Nurse Redheart is a 5,3k word Tragedy. I suppose it technically does qualify as one.
After some undetermined problem arose at the Ponyville Hospital, Nurse Redheart moves away to Fillydelphia to start anew, burning her bridges in the process.
You know what's a big problem in Fillydelphia? Crime. As she goes back to her apartment after being somewhat coerced into a double shift, Nurse Redheart takes a shortcut through a dark alley. For some reason. In doing so, she's faced with a crazed hobo who tries mugging her, but ends up stabbing her several times, instead.
That's how we get to the meat of the story. Nurse Redheart slowly bleeding out in an dirty alley. As she's a nurse, she knows exactly what's happening to her and how. I'm not well-versed in biology, but I could follow along quite easily through Redheart's description of her body shutting down as she lost more blood, as well as the way specific organs hurt.
Speaking of hurt, it's quite painful to see both blood and hope drain from her as she realises she won't make it to the hospital in time.
Overall, a pretty straightforward, but effective story.
